This Friday morning will be one of the most demanding days of the season for the Cleveland Guardians, as they surprisingly lost the second game of the series against the San Francisco Giants (1-0). Considering this, securing the series victory will be a must if they want to stay very close to the AL Wild Card spots, as that could be the only remaining way to qualify for the playoffs if the White Sox don’t fall into a bad streak soon.

With this in mind, it makes sense for the Cleveland Guardians to have Gavin Williams on the mound, as he has clearly been the best pitcher on the roster throughout the season with an 11W-7L record. Furthermore, he has recorded 190 strikeouts, so he’s expected to dominate the Giants’ batters at least during the first five innings of the game, especially after delivering one of his worst games of the season against the Padres last week.

On the San Francisco Giants’ side, this is one of the teams whose chances to qualify for the playoffs are practically null; however, they will face this game with Landen Roupp as the starting pitcher, who is the Giants’ best pitcher of the season. Despite this, Roupp has only been able to allow fewer than 4 earned runs in one of his last four starts, so it’s undeniable that he’s far from being in his best shape.
