Tuesday evening the Chicago Cubs (34-38) will begin their 3-game series with the San Francisco Giants (35-37). This will be the middle series of the Cubs 9 game homestand. They lost their initial series to the Cardinals 2-1. They could not figure out Mile Mikolas in the rubber match. He held the Cubs to 1 run on 4 hits in 6.1 innings of work. Jameson Taillon took the loss because he gave up the 2-run homerun to Pedro Pages early in the game. The Giants are also coming off a lost series. They dropped 2 of 3 to the LA Angels. However, after losing the 1st two game of the series, the offense exploded for 13 runs in game three. Jorge Soler and Austin Slater combined to go 4-6 with 2 homeruns and 6 RBIs. The Giants will trot out Logan Webb (6-5, 3.02) to begin this road series. Webb allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in his last start. However, the offense did enough for him to pick up a win over the Astros. The Cubs will counter with Justin Steele (0-3, 3.22). He looked solid against the Rays in his last start. He went 6 innings of scoreless work. He allowed just 3 hits and struck out 5 batters.
