The San Francisco 49ers will try to get back on track this week when they head east to take on the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Kickoff for this NFC battle is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. EST and the game will be broadcast on CBS.
The 49ers are coming off a surprising loss to the Houston Texans, 26-15. Christian McCaffrey and the run game were shut down; McCaffrey had just eight carries for 25 yards. Mac Jones and the passing game were not too much better. He went 19-32 for 191 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick. Houston has the No. 1 defense in the league, so that part wasn’t too surprising, but then C.J. Stroud dominated the 49ers' defense, throwing for 318 yards and two scores while the run game chipped in 157 yards. As for the Giants, they had a pretty rough day against the Eagles, losing Cam Skattebo to a season-ending injury. Saquon Barkley had his best day of the season with 150 yards on the ground, and Jalen Hurts had four touchdown passes.
The 49ers opened as 2.5-point road favorites over the Giants and will likely head into Sunday as such.

This is not the San Francisco team that has been dominant in years past. No, the defense is nothing special, the offense struggles to establish the run (yes, even with Christian McCaffrey), and they have been very inconsistent this season. Jaxson Dart has breathed new life into the Giants since taking over as QB1, but he’ll miss Cam Skattebo. I’m not sure what we’ll see out of the Giants' offense, but I feel confident Mac Jones will have a solid day and lead the 49ers to victory.
