The San Francisco 49ers (1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS) visit the Los Angeles Rams (0-2 SU, 0-2 ATS), a visit that has historically meant a lot of trouble for the home team. The Rams did a lot of losing to the 49ers in the 1980s and 1990s, and the bad old times are here again for them.
The 49ers are 9-2 in this matchup over the past five seasons, and the one regular season win for the Rams didn’t really count, as San Francisco had locked up the No. 1 seed and had turned the team over to the backups. Of course, the Rams have the one thing the 49ers have really wanted over the past few seasons: a Super Bowl trophy. Los Angeles’ other win in this series was the 2022 NFC championship game, and the Rams then followed by winning the Super Bowl, a fact that has burned the 49ers.

This also might be the opponent that San Francisco needs, as the 49ers have been winning and playing far too many close games as of late. Out of San Francisco’s past six games, five of them were decided by six points or less (the exception, of course, was the one cover against the Jets). The 49ers have done well at winning tight games, but they could really use a blowout.
It might happen against the Rams, who looked terrible against Arizona. Los Angeles couldn’t stop anything in that game, as the Cardinals picked them to pieces in a 41-10 rout. While Arizona might be better than in past years, Los Angeles’ defense ranks dead last in the NFL and has never done well against San Francisco.
