The Seattle Mariners (22-24, 12-12 Home) will try to get back on the right side of the scoreboard today when they host the San Diego Padres (26-18, 13-8 Away) in Game Two of a three-game weekend series. Fans can follow the action at Petco Park in San Diego on MLB.TV once the game gets underway at 7:15 p.m. EST.
Seattle came into the series having won three of four against the Astros in Houston, but dropped Game One of the series to the Padres yesterday, 2-0. For the Padres, it was a much-needed win after dropping two of three vs. the Bucks in Milwaukee earlier in the week.
Logan Gilbert is scheduled to get the start for the Mariners. Gilbert is 2-3 in nine starts with a 3.78 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. He has not done his best work at home, where he is 2-2 in six starts with a 4.91 ERA and a .278 OBA. Seven of the eight home runs he has surrendered came in home games.
As for the Padres, San Diego is scheduled to start Walker Buehler. He is 2-2 in nine starts with a 5.20 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. He has been dreadful on the road, where he is 1-1 in three starts with a 10.13 ERA and a .360 OBA. However, he has only allowed three home runs all season.

It is easy to look at Buehler’s numbers overall and think he’ll get lit up by the Mariners lineup, leading to Seattle covering the run line. But the Mariners' offense has not been great over the last week (.244 BA and just over four runs per game). As bad as his aggregate numbers look, Buehler has not been terrible in recent starts. However, his lineup has been bad, generating just 13 runs over the last week (five games) while hitting .204. Despite his struggles at home, Gilbert is a decent pitcher. So, I’d lean towards Seattle winning, but I’m more confident that neither team will score much.
