A rough season seemed to be turning around for the Giants after a 4-2 homestand improved their record to 13-15. But then disaster struck during a recent road trip, as they went 0-6 and fell back to 13-21. So, fans are certainly hoping that yesterday’s 3-2 win is a sign of things to come.
Logan Webb is scheduled to get the start for the Giants. Webb has gone 2-3 in seven starts with a 4.30 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. This was not the way I expected to go when I started reviewing this game. I thought the OVER would have to be the way to go with two starting pitchers that have not been overly impressive this season. Webb has turned in solid performances in his last couple of outings, but we have two awful lineups in this game. San Francisco has hit .229 over the last week (six games), generating 12 runs. San Francisco has hit a league-low .176 and has also produced 12 runs (but in five games).
Buehler may give up a few, but Webb will do just fine against this Padres lineup and keep the score low.
