The San Diego Padres will try to get win No. 10 of the season again when they face the Athletics in Game Three of a three-game series in Sacramento; first pitch is scheduled for 3:35 p.m. EST.

It looked promising for the Padres when Manny Machado got his first home run of the season off Jeffrey Springs in the first. The Padres tagged him for three runs in the inning. But then Dylan Cease gave up six in the bottom of the first, and the Padres never led again. Cease surrendered three more in the third before getting pulled after the fourth. San Diego will give the ball to right-hander Randy Vasquez today. Vasquez had a solid outing in his first start (vs. Atlanta, six innings, four hits, no runs, three strikeouts). He took the loss in his second start, lasting just 4 2/3 innings, giving up three runs (two earned), and a pair of strikeouts. However, he had trouble with his control in both walking four in one start and five in the other. The Athletics will go with Osvaldo Bip on the mound to start. He got the win in his first start (five innings, three hits, and two runs (one earned)), but did not factor into the decision in his second (five innings, six hits, two runs).
