The San Diego Padres will go for win No. 10 tonight when they face the Oakland Athletics in the second game of a three-game series at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento,  CA. San Diego won the first game last night 5-4. Jake Cronenworth had a two-run home run in the first to get the Padres out to an early 3-0 lead. Fernando Tatis, Jr. added a solo shot in the eighth to make the score 5-3. Tyler Soderstrom’s solo shot in the seventh got the A’s within one, 5-4; it was his second home run of the day and sixth of the season.

The Padres will turn to Dylan Cease to start the game on the mound. Cease got his first win of the season in his last start (April 2 vs. Cleveland) after pitching 6 1/3 innings, giving up four hits and a run while walking one and striking out seven. He’s had 45 at-bats against Athletics players, giving up just nine hits but one home run (Tyler Soderstrom). The A’s will start Jeffrey Springs. Springs had a solid outing in his first start, pitching six innings of three-hit ball with nine strikeouts. But he got shelled in his last start (vs. Cubs, April 2), giving up five hits (including a home run) and five runs (four earned) in three innings.
