The Padres' winning streak fell to six and the Yankees' losing streak to three after the Yankees' 12-3 victory in the Bronx in the second game of the series, which tied the series 1-1 with the deciding game on Wednesday.

Game 2 was actually closer than the final score indicated. The Padres had taken a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, but in the bottom of the same inning, Judge's 12th home run of the season and a Dominguez sac fly quickly tied the score.

Then, in the seventh inning, they brought in the Yankees' most dominant reliever: Fernando Cruz. With his deceptive splitter, he struck out Machado with the bases loaded before the Padres' pitching collapsed in that same inning, allowing 10 runs in the bottom of the seventh, giving Cruz his first W of the season. The Yankees won as -125 favorites in the betting and will be as much as -180 in Game 3 when Max Fried takes the mound.
