Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres Prediction & Picks - MLB

The San Diego Padres are in Los Angeles for a final game with the Dodgers in their 3-game series before heading off to play their final series of the regular season. Both teams are locked into the postseason, with the Dodgers winning their division and the Padres now leading the Cubs and Phillies by 1 game for the top wild card spot.

In game one of this series, the Dodgers looked like the much superior team. They went with a bullpen start and used 8 different pitchers to combine for a 5-run shutout win. The offense tagged the Padres starter, Michael King, for 5 runs in just 4 innings. Freddie Freeman led the way with 3 RBIs on 2-for-4 hitting. Tommy Edman added 2 RBIs of his own and scored 2 runs in the win.

In game two, it was a different story. Robbie Ray of the Padres only pitched 3.1 innings and allowed 1 run on 7 hits, but the bullpen came in and cleaned things up the rest of the way. They combined for 5.2 innings of work in which they allowed just 3 hits and no runs. Manny Machado hit a 2-run home run and knocked in another run on a sacrifice fly later in the game to help lift the Padres to the 5-1 win.

Tonight, we should be in for another good battle between two teams that could be meeting in the NL side of the postseason. Nick Pivetta will start for the Padres and Tyler Glasnow will go for the Dodgers in this final game of the series.
