Did the Padres finally get their offensive spark going on Saturday? It's possible, as they won the second game of the series against the Orioles 9-3 in an unusual game where they hit 5 home runs.

After almost 70 games, the Padres were among the worst teams in MLB in the collective batting statistics. Samad Taylor recently made a rather apt analogy, saying that an engine doesn't start with sporadic sparks; he did his part on Saturday, hitting the first home run of his career, but Merril also homered. Sheets, Durán, and Machado later joined the party with solo home runs.

The Orioles, meanwhile, saw their three-game winning streak—against the Mariners and Padres—come to an end, a streak in which they had won every game by scoring exactly seven runs.
