The San Antonio Spurs’ road trip resumes with a stop in Disneyland, where they’ll lock horns with the Orlando Magic at Amway Center on Saturday. The Spurs ended their two-game slide with a 126-125 squeaker over the Atlanta Hawks on February 5. As of press time, they are currently playing the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center. San Antonio shore up their backcourt with the acquisition of De’Aaron Fox in a three-team trade with the Sacramento Kings and the Chicago Bulls. The Spurs’ top-brass has high hopes his pairing with Victor Wembanyama will make the team a playoff contender on a short term while charting their path towards becoming a perennial title contender in the coming years. The Magic are now three games below .500 after falling to the Denver Nuggets, 90-112, on February 6. Paolo Bachero, Franz Wagner and Wendell Carter Jr. combined for 51 points, but no other players scored in double figures aside from this trio. Orlando shot a dismal 36.9 percent from the field while allowing the Nuggets to convert 53 percent of their shots.

Not even the return of Banchero and Wagner can fix the Magic’s scoring woes. Orlando is dead last in the league in points per game at 103.8 ppg. Worse, they have also struggled on the defensive end as of late, allowing them to shoot above 50 percent from the field multiple times. Wembanyama and Fox are expected to play better next to each other since Saturday’s match with Orlando will be their third game as a pairing.
