Two of the hottest teams in the NBA will meet in Denver on Saturday afternoon. The Denver Nuggets (49-28) have won 7 straight games. The San Antonio Spurs (59-18) have won 11 straight games. One will have their winning streak extended, while the other will see their streak snapped.
Denver has clinched a playoff spot, but their seed could change in different ways. They could sneak into the 3 seed, but could also fall to the 5th or even 6th seed. In their final 5 games, they face this Spurs team twice and the Thunder, which will make moving up or maintaining their current seed a tough task. If they want any chance at sliding up to the 3 seed, it will have to start here against San Antonio.
The Spurs have the 2 seed locked up and have a mathematical chance at stealing the 1 seed from the Thunder, but that would mean that the Thunder would have to lose 2 of their last 5 games, which seems unlikely as a current 16-loss team. They faced this Denver team less than a month ago and lost 136-131 at home. However, that game was played without Wemby. While he sat out the last game, he is expected to play here on Saturday. With one of the most dynamic players in the lineup, it would be hard to see the Spurs losing this rematch.
