The final game to kick off on the first Saturday of the Italian Serie A season will take place at Stadio Olimpico, where Roma will be up against the challenge of Bologna. Playing at home in front of what will certainly be a loud and boisterous home crowd, the Romans have a clear opportunity to start the season in the right way, though facing Bologna has become a much harder task in recent seasons, so the hosts will need to come flying out of the gates on Saturday. A new era is beginning, with former Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini taking charge. Can the man who made the men from Bergamo ultra competitive push Roma back towards the summit of Serie A? We'll see, but first things first, they need to negotiate this very tricky first task.
The previous season was a decent one for Bologna, who couldn't quite match their previous season exploits in the league, but thanks to winning the Coppa Italia in fine style, they ensured that they'd be back playing continental football for a second season on the spin. Can they begin the new campaign by upsetting the Romans? Don't be too surprised if they do.
