No.2 seed Taylor Fritz of the United States will battle Quentin Halys of France in the second round of the 2025 Boss Stuttgart Open on Wednesday.
Fritz enters the grass court season seeking for a quick turnaround following a shocking first-round loss to Daniel Altmaier of Germany 7-5 3-6 6-3 6-1 in the first round of the 2025 French Open. Fritz, who holds a 42-28 record on grass, is expected to get better results on grass since he reached the quarterfinal of the 2024 Wimbledon Open and won the Rothesay International last year.
Meanwhile, Halys opened his grass-court campaign on a strong note after topping Lorenzo Sonego of Italy 6-7(6) 7-5 6-4 in the first round. Halys fired 10 aces and won 52 points off his first serves, on top of 3 break points, to outlast Sonego in an action-packed three-set contest.
