Although it's already very late, the Orioles are waking up; they've had a hot September that began when they swept the Padres at Petco Park. It continued when they returned to Cadmen Yards and won the first two games of the series against the Dodgers. In that series, the Orioles rallied from a memorable game in which they had been the victims of a Yamamoto no-hitter with 26 outs, trailing 0-3, and inexplicably turned it around to win 4-3. Now, the Orioles won another close game via walk-off, 3-2, against the Pirates on Tuesday.

This makes it four games won by one run for the Orioles this month, improving their record in one-run games to 23-22.

Kyle Bradish had a solid performance in the first game of the series against the Pirates, dominating for seven innings of one-run ball. Overall, it wasn't a day of heavy hitting for either Pittsburgh or the Orioles, but the difference was that the O's leadoff hitters, Holliday and Jackson, each had two hits.

With the bases loaded, Basallo hit a single that fell into the foul line; it had to be reviewed, and after the reversal, the Orioles' record dropped to 67-77 in 2025.
