In a clash between the two top teams of the Metropolitan Division, the New Jersey Devils will host the Pittsburgh Penguins at Prudential Center on Saturday.
The two teams are tied at the top of the Metropolitan Division with 20 points. New Jersey holds a 10-4-0 record, while Pittsburgh has gone 9-4-2.
The Penguins attempt to become the first visiting side to win at Prudential Center. In Thursday's matchup against the Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey was close to its first home defeat, trailing with only a couple of minutes remaining in regulation. Yet, Sheldon Keefe's men escaped with a 4-3 overtime win.
Pittsburgh faced bitter rivals, the Washington Capitals, on Thursday night and bounced back from two consecutive defeats with a 5-3 home win. Sidney Crosby bagged a pair of power-play goals to become the NHL's leading goal-scorer this season. He has lit the lamp 11 times in 19 games.
Crosby has maintained an elite level of play even at 38, and with Evgeni Malkin showing improved form, the Penguins have a strong chance of returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The two veteran stars have combined for 39 points, and the Devils must keep them in check if they want to maintain their unbeaten home record.
