In an Eastern Conference showdown, the Boston Bruins will host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday at TD Garden.

The teams meet with contrasting momentum: Pittsburgh rode a six-game winning streak into this weekend, while Boston held a 3-5-2 record across its last 10 games. However, only three points separated them in the standings, and a fascinating matchup is expected in Beantown.

Boston has the home-ice advantage and has regained some confidence, winning three of four games recently. The team’s penalty kill has struggled this season, but there have been some solid defensive displays. The Bruins must certainly be at their best in defense on Sunday against offensive talent like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

Pittsburgh’s veteran stars are having a highly productive campaign, averaging over a point per game. Crosby and Malkin combined for three points (one goal, two assists) when the Russian forward returned from injury in Thursday’s 4-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils.

Malkin's return gives Pittsburgh two reliable scoring lines. Boston must also start sharing the offense better. David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie have both surpassed 40 points, but only four other players have reached the 20-point mark.
