The Texas Rangers will host the Philadelphia Phillies in Game Two of a weekend series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX. Fans can follow the action on Fox once the game gets underway at 7:15 p.m. EST. Game One yesterday was tied at 1-1 after the first, but the Phillies took a 4-1 lead in the fourth. Philadelphia’s pitching staff held the Rangers scoreless after the first; the Phillies tacked on another five in the ninth to make the final 9-1.
Jesus Luzardo is scheduled to get the start for Philadelphia. Luzardo is 10-5 this season in 23 starts with a 4.32 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and .258 OBA. He has been at his best on the road, where he is 5-3 in 11 starts with a 3.36 ERA and .245 OBA. Last month, he was either lights out (two shutouts) or lit up (gave up 4+ runs in three outings). As for the Rangers, they’ll start Jacob deGrom on the mound. He’s having a solid season, going 10-4 in 22 starts with a 2.80 ERA, .94 WHIP, and .198 OBA. His best work has been at home, where he is 6-2 in 11 starts with a 1.91 ERA and .200 OBA.

Jacob deGrom has not been at his best in his last two starts, both on the road. But he has done well against the Phillies lineup in the past, holding them to a .227 BA in 172 at-bats (39-172 with five home runs). However, the Phillies have been hitting well lately (.275 over the last week). Luzardo is capable of having a great outing, but it could just as easily go the other way. That inconsistency is a concern. The stage is set for a Phillies victory, but a return home could be just what deGrom needs. I don’t have a ton of confidence in the Rangers' lineup, but I think deGrom will bounce back and get a W for Texas.
