The red-hot Texas Rangers will battle the No.1 team in the NL East, the Philadelphia Phillies, in a three-game interleague play starting on Friday at Globe Life Field.
The Rangers fell short of a sweep of the New York Yankees after Paul Goldschmidt blasted a tiebreaking homer in the 7th inning. The loss dealt the Rangers their second loss in five games, but more importantly, it pushed them 4.5 games back of the No.1 team in the AL East, the 65-51 Houston Astros.
The Phillies also came up short of sweeping the Baltimore Orioles in their most recent series. Ranger Suarez faltered mightily in this game, surrendering 9 hits and 5 earned runs in 6.1 innings. Trae Turner drove in the lone run for Philadelphia in the 5th inning. The Phillies remain at No.1 in the NL East with a 65-59 record, but are only 2.5 games ahead of their closest trailer, the 63-52 New York Mets.
