Their once insurmountable lead in the NL East has dwindled to just 5 games over the Braves and 7 games over the Mets. While their bats have not been great, the pitching has been much worse. They have allowed an average of 9.25 runs over their last 4 games. Tonight, they will play game two of their 3-game series against the Seattle Mariners (58-53). Seattle took game one 10-2 after exploding for 7 runs in the 2nd inning when Justin launched a grand slam that followed a 3-run home run from Luke Raley. Phillies rookie Tyler Phillips was brought back to Earth after having a complete game shutout in his previous start. Tonight, the Mariners will have Bryce Miller (8-7, 3.46) on the hump while the Phillies look to be going with a bullpen start as Orion Kerkering (2-2, 2.21) is set to start this one. Miller held the White Sox to 3 runs on 7 hits when he picked up his 8th win last Sunday.
