The Philadelphia Phillies (90-59 SU, 74-75 ATS) visit the Milwaukee Brewers in what could be a potential preview of the National League Division Series or even the league championship series. The Phillies remain in a dogfight with the Dodgers for the top seed in the NLDS, and this is a chance to all but clinch their spot atop the league. They hold a two-game lead on Los Angeles and lead Milwaukee by four, as the season enters the last two weeks.
Milwaukee is in a weird spot. With a 10-game lead in the division, they’re the one contender that doesn’t really have to worry about getting caught by a hard-charging rival. At the same time, they want to make sure that they win the division in front of their own fans, and they’ve got more important series to worry about. With Arizona and the Mets still to play, the Brewers would be more worried about tipping their hand to a round 1 rival than to the Phillies, whom they wouldn’t see until at least the second round of the playoffs.

That includes Philadelphia’s three-game sweep of Milwaukee at Citizens Bank Park, where the Phillies essentially froze Milwaukee’s bats. The Brewers haven’t scored more than two runs in any of their past four meetings with the Phillies, and that includes a matchup with Ranger Suarez the last time the Phils were here.
Suarez hasn’t been very consistent as of late, but he’s been a full run better on the road than at home. Aaron Civale has been more consistent with his pitching performances, giving up around two to three runs per outing. Against this Phillies squad, that might not be enough. The Phils have had no problem winning lower-scoring games by pushing a run or two across and seeing what happens.
