Philadelphia seems to finally be past the funk that has plagued it since the All-Star Break, and the Phillies are now in a fight to the finish with the Dodgers for the top seed in the National League.
As long as the pitching holds up, the Phillies seem to have the edge in that chase. Philadelphia has pitched much better in the past few weeks, holding four of its past five opponents to two runs or less. In his past six starts, he has gone at least six innings every time and allowed no more than two runs. Four of his past five starts saw five runs or less cross the plate, as the Phillies haven’t exactly given him run support.
Miami’s counter is Edward Cabrera, who has had trouble finding the plate at times. His start in Philadelphia was the one in his past six that went over the total, in part because Cabrera put four hitters on base himself and lasted just four innings. He’s really never found the plate very well against Philadelphia, as he allowed six walks in his previous start against the Phils last year.
