Chicago Cubs vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction & Picks - MLB

The Chicago Cubs (14-9, 9-5 Home) will try to make it eight in a row Wednesday when they host the Philadelphia Phillies in Game Three of a four-game mid-week series. Fans can follow the action at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL, when the game gets underway at 7:40 p.m. EST with coverage provided by MLB.TV.

With Tuesday’s 7-4 win over the Phillies at Wrigley, four of the Cubs' seven wins have come at the expense of Philadelphia. Incidentally, the last team to beat Chicago was the Phillies in Game One of a three-game series in Philadelphia last week.

While the Cubs have won seven in a row, the Phillies have lost their last seven. Chicago will activate Matthew Boyd from the IL to start. Boyd has a solid track record but has not been good in limited action so far this season (6.75 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP).  However, last season, in 34 starts, he had a 3.21 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP, so we know he can be better.

The Phillies will be going with a bullpen day, it appears, with relief pitcher Kyle Bachus set to start. Philadelphia’s bullpen has a 4.52 ERA (ranking it No. 20 in baseball).
