The Philadelphia Phillies visit the Windy City to take on Chicago’s National League representative the Cubs in a midweek matchup. Fourth of July’s Eve will include a Wrigley Field baseball that is lined closely between the struggling Cubs and the league’s best team in terms of record. Zack Wheeler is set to take the mound for the Phillies, a very capable righty with a record of 9-4 and a 2.73 ERA to go along with 112 strikeouts. Shota Imanaga is a similar slinger for the Cubs, striking out 84 batters on the year with a 7-2 record and 3.07 ERA, albeit with his left arm. Wheeler’s effort last time out was a fruitless one for the Phillies, holding Miami to just two earned runs in the loss. The Marlins scored 7 runs in the final 3 frames to outdo Chicago’s total of 4 and give them a surprising home defeat.
