The Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies are headed to a rubber match on Sunday after splitting the first two games of their weekend series at Truist Park.
The Braves bounced back from a 0-13 loss in Game 1 by trouncing the Phillies 6-1 in Saturday’s Game 2. Atlanta got an exceptional mound outing from Spencer Schwellenbach, who smothered the Phillies over 7.0 innings, surrendering only one run and three hits while striking out 12 batters. Catcher Sean Murphy also starred behind the plate as he delivered a grans slam in the 7th inning to put away the Phillies.
The Phillies absorbed their fourth loss in five games following another lethargic night by their batting corps. Over their last five games, Philadelphia has only batted .214 with 3.0 runs per game. These numbers would have been uglier without the 13-run explosion in Game 1.
