The Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves begin their weekend series on Friday at Truist Park, with both teams looking to arrest their current losing streak.

The Phillies conceded the No.1 spot in the NL East to the New York Mets a day after recapturing it following their third consecutive loss to the Houston Astros 1-2 on Thursday. Philadelphia finally scored its first run in the series courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Brandon Marsh. However, one run would not be enough to save the Phillies from suffering an embarrassing sweep against the Astros. Philadelphia is sporting a rock-solid 3.64 ERA in its last five games. Unfortunately, offense has been Philadelphia’s weakest link in this stretch, averaging just 2.5 runs per game on a .208 BA.

The Braves could not sustain their promising start in their just-concluded series with the Mets, dropping the last two games of their four-game tussle. Atlanta’s offense was nowhere to be found in the second half of the series, especially in Game 4, where they were held scoreless. In the last five games, Atlanta has pitched a 4.71 ERA and produced 3.2 runs per game.
