The Philadelphia Phillies aim to even the score with the Atlanta Braves as they storm back to the field for Game 2 of their series at Truist Park on Wednesday.
The Phillies fell to 7-3 in the season following a 5-7 loss to the Braves in the series opener. Zach Wheeler allowed five earned runs over 5.1 innings in his latest duel with Chris Sale. Philadelphia took a 5-3 lead off Kyle Schwarber’s solo homer at the top of the 5th inning. But Braves catcher Sean Murphy fueled a four-to-nothing run rally with an RBI single in the 6th inning.
Atlanta claimed only their second win of the season, but beating one of the best teams in the National League should bolster their confidence ahead of Wednesday’s rematch. The Phillies, meanwhile, have lost two of their last three meetings.
