The Pittsburgh Penguins face another elimination game in their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday at PPG Paints Arena.
The Flyers had a chance to sweep the series on Saturday, but Sidney Crosby had other plans. The Penguins captain recorded a goal and an assist, helping his side to a 4-2 road win. Crosby reached 204 playoff points with the Penguins, passing Jari Kurri for the third-most postseason points with a single franchise in NHL history.
Crosby’s squad is now back at home and will have regained confidence from their Game 4 victory. Salvaging the series looks a lot easier after that, providing the team with much-needed belief.
Pittsburgh was the favorite in this series before the puck was dropped for Game 1, and it would have been a massive shock if Philadelphia had swept the Battle of Pennsylvania. Not many backed them to win the series in five games either.
It will take a big effort to finish off the Penguins on Monday night, and the inexperienced Flyers team could have trouble getting the job done. Pittsburgh’s veteran core has been in this situation many times before and may even thrive under pressure.

Our Pittsburgh Penguins vs Philadelphia Flyers Prediction
The Penguins looked dead and buried after Game 3, but Crosby showed up big time in Game 4, and the team’s decision to switch goalies also played a big part in the victory. Philadelphia entered the weekend in cruise control, but there will now be doubts in the players’ heads.
Head coach Rick Tocchet might also be overthinking things after dropping Matvei Michkov, one of Philadelphia’s highest regular-season scorers, from the four regular forward lines during Sunday’s practice. This suggests he will be a healthy scratch on Monday, which could be a further boost for Pittsburgh.
Our prediction for Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers: Penguins to win in regulation.
