Tuesday night will see the 47-20-4 New York Rangers taking on the 36-27-9 Philadelphia Flyers at Madison Square Garden. This is the third of four meetings this season, the first two both in Philadelphia with the Rangers winning them 3-1 and 2-1. The Rangers are 10-2 in their last 12 at home, only the Florida Panthers and Winnipeg Jets have walked away with two points in that time. The Panthers were their most recent visitors with the Rangers taking revenge with a 4-3 shootout win. Artemi Panarin is having the best season of his career, a single point away from triple figures for the first time. Chris Kreider has 20+ goals in nine of his last 10 years for the Rangers, he needs two more to hit 300 for his career.
The Flyers were disappointing at home to the Panthers in their most recent game, losing 1-4. Given they had already won twice down in Florida this season and only gave up 15 shots to their opponents, it was a moderate display. Their defensive displays on the road have been poor as well, giving up 29 goals in their last six, averaging almost five per game going past them. Travis Konecny is still their only player with more than 50 points this season with Owen Tippett and Joel Farabee the only pair along with Konecny to have more than 20 goals. Cam Atkinson is having a very disappointing time of things with his pointless streak now at 16 games. The veteran has been streaky this season when he has been picking up points and a return to form would help the Flyers try to cling onto a playoff spot.
