The 2024 NBA playoffs commences on Saturday and the spotlight will shine on the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers in the early evening slate. The Knicks (50-32) earned the #2 seed courtesy of a phenomenal season from MVP candidate Jalen Brunson. Philadelphia grabbed the #7 seed after outlasting the Miami Heat in the Play-In Tournament. Their season’s success can be partly attributed to Tyrese Maxey’s step-up in performance following the departure of James Harden. New York and Philadelphia has historically been a fierce rivalry across professional sports, and this NBA playoff matchup between Atlantic Division members will be no exception. Sixers backup center Paul Reed has already added fuel to the fire, stating they wanted the Knicks because they viewed them as an “easier” first round opponent than the Boston Celtics.
