The New Orleans Pelicans (15-42) will host the Philadelphia 76ers (30-25) on Saturday night. These teams met back at the end of January in Philadelphia, and the 76ers picked up a 124-114 win that night. Joel Embiid poured in 40 in that previous matchup, but his status for this meeting is up in the air as he deals with a knee/shin injury.
Embiid is likely not going to play in this one, but the 76ers have played more than enough games without him this season and have relied on their young backcourt to carry them. Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecomb will need to step up once again in Embiid’s absence. They are currently on a 3-game losing streak after dropping their 1st game since the break. The 117-110 loss to the Hawks on Thursday night was due in part to some very poor shooting. The 76ers finished the game shooting just 38% from the field. They will need to be more efficient here in New Orleans.
The Pelicans have had a brutal season, and their 1st game after the break just continued their woes. The Bucks handed them a 139-118 loss at home just last night. And that came without Giannis returning to the Bucks lineup. They allowed Ryan Rollins and Kevin Porter Jr to combine for 51 points in the loss. They will now need to turn things around quickly against the 76ers, who have youngsters that can flat out score.

You would think that the team that won the last meeting with their star player scoring 40 points would not be favored on the road without him in the next meeting. However, that is not the case and the 76ers are favored here again, mainly due to the fact that the Pelicans have just been having a terrible season. We like Maxey and Edgecomb to pick up the slack with Embiid being out in this one.
