After a promising end to the year where they won the last 4 games of 2024, it was thought that the 76ers could begin to climb back from the steep slope of their losing record. However, they suffered two somewhat discouraging defeats against the Kings and then against the Warriors to start 2025. On Saturday they will face the struggling Nets who lost the last 4 times they played at home.
However, the Nets won their last game, one on the road against the Bucks at the Fiserv Forum in a very unexpected result since the Bucks were the favorites to win by up to 12.5 points on the betting sites and ended up losing against Brooklyn 110-113. Cam Thomas scored 24 points in that last game, a victory that almost slipped away from them since with 7 minutes left the Nets were winning 111-90 and allowed 20 unanswered Bucks points. Williams could finally seal the game in favor of the Nets from the free throw line.
On Thursday, the same day that the Nets won, the 76ers lost 105-139 to the Warriors, in a game in which Embiid scored 28 points.
