Saski Baskonia has had a poor start to the Euroleague season. The result after two games on the European stage? 0-2. Suffice to say that the Spanish team is hoping to bounce back in front of its home crowd when it hosts Panathinaikos, one of the title contenders at the end of the season. In any case, Pablo Laso's team finds itself in a delicate situation. After three consecutive defeats in the preseason, the red and blues have lost three times in all competitions. Even though they have offensive potential, their defense is lacking, conceding an average of more than 100 points per game. As long as their level of play remains low in this area, a comeback will be impossible.
Panathinaikos wanted to make it three wins out of three when the season resumed. The mission has failed, as the Shamrock remains on two wins and one defeat in all competitions. They got back to winning ways last weekend against PAOK. After an unexpected 103-96 defeat to Barcelona, the Green and Whites prepared for their European Cup match in the best possible way: with a 10-point victory. Ergin Ataman's men will need to maintain this defensive intensity to continue their winning streak in the Euroleague.
