Orlando Pride and Chicago Red Stars will start the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League with an exciting matchup at the Inter & Co Stadium on Friday night. The Pride will be looking to start the new campaign with a win as they aim to defend the championship successfully. They finished the 2024 campaign with 60 points from 24 matches, enough to top the standings.
The Pride eventually defeated Washington Spirit 1-0 to lift their first-ever championship. They were also the NWSL Shield Winners that season, becoming the first team to complete a double since 2019. Orlando will be fired up to face Chicago Red Stars, who secured automatic postseason qualification last time after finishing eighth with 32 points. Lorne Donaldson’s ladies suffered a 4-1 defeat against Orlando in their previous meeting to end their postseason campaign. They must now dust themselves up and give it another shot this season.
