The Orlando Magic have lost their leader in Pablo Banchero after he suffered a high ankle sprain this week. They will hit the road to face the defending champion New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden Sunday night.
The Magic are still searching for their 1st win of the season after starting things off with 2 losses to the Hawks and then the Timberwolves. Wendell Carter led the Magic in their most recent game with 20 points on 8 of 9 shooting. It was not enough as they allowed 7 different Timberwolves to score in double digits in the 115-93 loss. They were also destroyed on the glass as they were outrebounded 61-43. This helped allow the Timberwolves to get 15 more shot attempts and, in the NBA, those extra attempts can be a big difference maker.
The Knicks, interestingly enough, are also searching for their 1st win. They had their ring night spoiled by the revamped 76ers on opening night. They then faced the Celtics on the road and watched as Jayson Tatum dropped 36 points on them. They fell 107-103. Mikal Bridges went 0-for-8 and was held scoreless in the loss. They simply cannot have a starter without a point and expect to win games. Miles McBride did provide 20 points off the bench, but were playing from behind the entire 2nd half.
