The Los Angeles Chargers seek to give the Jim Harbaugh era a winning start, locking horns with the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California. After spending almost a decade in Michigan, Jim Harbaugh is back in the NFL and will try to lead the Chargers back to relevance after years of dormancy. The Chargers fortified their offensive line by selecting offensive tackle Joe Alt of Notre Dame with the No.5 overall pick. Quarterback Justin Herbert had his worst statistical season in 2023, passing for a career-low 3,134 yards on a 65.1% completion rate with 20 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Chargers’ fans are optimistic that injecting Alt to the offensive line and hiring Jim Harbaugh will positively impact Herbert and the Chargers this year. The bad news is Herbert has been added to the injury report with a foot injury. The Raiders will have a new quarterback this season after the release of Jimmy Garoppolo. Gardner Minshew, who signed a two-year deal this offseason, won the starting quarterback role and is expected to perform well after putting together a Pro Bowl season with the Colts, passing for 3,305 yards with 15 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.
