The Texas Rangers (13-12, 5-4 Home) will try to get the weekend at home started off right tonight when they host the Athletics (13-12, 8-7 Away) at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX. Game time is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. EST with coverage provided by MLB.TV.
This is an early-season matchup between division co-leaders, with both at 13-12. Texas will come into the game feeling pretty good after taking two of three vs. the visiting Pirates during the week. As for the A’s, they lost their last game on Wednesday to the Mariners in Seattle, but took the series, 2-1.
The pitching matchup will be of interest today as neither has really been exceptional this season. Luis Severino is 0-2 in five starts with a 6.20 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. He faced the Rangers last Monday (April 13), and gave up two home runs (six hits), four runs, walked three, and struck out seven. Nathan Eovaldi is 2-3 in his five starts with a 5.06 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. He pitched in that April 13 game as well, but threw seven innings of three-hit, shutout ball for his second win of the season.

Our Texas Rangers vs Athletics Prediction
I’m a little hesitant on this one, but I believe it is the best bet for this game. Neither pitcher has done well this season overall. Eovaldi has had his moments as he did against the A’s recently, but has been inconsistent. Severino had a decent outing in his first start but has posted a 6.86 ERA across the other four. With the A’s hitting .278 over the last week and since the Texas lineup has hit .315 vs. Severino across 92 at-bats with seven home runs, the over is easily the best bet for this game.
