The San Francisco Giants (32-46, 15-20 Home) ended their three-game losing streak with a win over the A’s (38-41, 20-18 Away)in the series opener yesterday. Can they make it two in a row today? First Pitch is scheduled for 9:45 p.m. EST at Oracle Park in San Francisco, CA, with coverage provided by MLB.TV.
With both offenses remaining relatively quiet, it was Giants starter Robbie Ray who led the way, pitching eight innings and giving up just two hits. The Athletics lone run was unearned. Two runs in the second put the Giants up early, and a late seventh inning run closed out the scoring at 3-1.
Tyler Mahle is expected to come off the IL to start for the Giants. He has gone 1-7 in 11 starts with a 6.04 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. His last game was on May 26 vs. Arizona. He lasted five innings, gave up three hits and three earned runs in his third consecutive loss.
As for the Athletics, the A’s are scheduled to start Gage Jump. Jump has a 3-1 record in five starts with a 2.37 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP. He got the win in both of his road starts, posting a 0.68 ERA and holding opponents to a .140 BA.

Had San Francisco not needed such a good game from Robbie Ray yesterday to get the win, I might be inclined to go with the San Francisco moneyline. But their lineup struggled; the A’s just struggled more. However, with the pitching matchup today, I expect the A’s bats to wake up and give Tyler Mahle a rude welcome back to the starting rotation. It might not be a bad day to go for the run line as well (-1.5 at +143) since it would not be shocking to see Jump shut the Giants out.
