Philadelphia has yet to fully recover from a dreadful stretch that saw it fall to 8-18. But they’ve been battling back lately with wins in seven of their last eight games to improve to 16-20, including yesterday’s 9-1 win over the A’s.
Jeffrey Springs is set to start for the Athletics on the mound. Springs is 3-2 in seven starts with a 3.96 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. In limited exposure vs. the Phillies lineup, Springs held the players he faced to a .150 OBA (six hits in 40 at-bats). He has been at his best when on the road, going 1-1 in three road starts with a 2.95 ERA and a .172 OBA.

Both teams have been hitting the ball well over the last week, which would make it seem like the OVER would be the way to go, right? Well, but we have two starting pitchers who will be in their element. Springs has been hard to hit on the road (.172 OBA). Wheeler only has two starts to his name for this season, but was solid last season at home, going 6-2 with a 2.19 ERA.
So, even though both teams have been solid at the plate, I’m going with the pitchers flexing their muscles and keeping the final score relatively low.
