After a disastrous weekend series against the Seattle Mariners, the New York Mets hope to get a quick fix to their broken egos as they shoot for a victory against the visiting Oakland Athletics at Citi Field. The Mets are coming off arguably their worst stretch of the season after losing all three games to the Mariners in the worst possible way. New York scored just one run throughout the series while allowing Seattle to drop 20 runs on them. The Mets’ recent batting struggle has been exposed in that series. Over the last 10 games, New York has batted .254 with 3.5 runs per game. Pitching has also been problematic lately for the Mets, who have conceded a 5.36 ERA and .346 OBP in their last five assignments. Meanwhile, the Athletics have earned win No.50 this season after they took down the Toronto Blue Jays 8-4 in their series-finale on Monday. While there are still plenty of games left to make a run at one of the wildcard spots in the American League, the Athletics might be modestly aiming for a respectful finish in their last stand in Oakland.
