After exchanging 2-0 victories in the opening two games, the Twins and Athletics meet in a series decider at Target Field on Sunday evening.
It's fair to say that it has not been an action-packed series so far, with both offenses looking woefully short of form and confidence. In game one, the Twins managed just two total hits, as A's sluggers Lawrence Butler and Tyler Soderstrom scored the only runs of the contest. Game two was a similarly drab affair, as Alan Roden's two run single for the Twins was enough to give them a much-needed victory.
That success for the Twins moved them to within two games of the White Sox and Guardians in the AL Central title race, but with a brutal run of fixtures coming up in the next two weeks, victory on Sunday is essential if the Twins want to keep in touch with the leaders.
