Another day, another loss for the Oakland Athletics on Thursday night as they head into the weekend on a 8-game skid. Their scheduled affairs against the 37-32 Minnesota Twins don’t provide much reason for optimism either. Minnesota is enjoying home field advantage and their recently strong form, attributes that certainly factor into the sportsbooks rating them so highly in the moneyline market. After a poor stretch last week, Minnesota has gained back a big margin over the .500 mark and now looks to threaten the Royals for the 2nd spot in the AL Central. Bailey Ober will get the start for the Twins, a 28-year-old who has been in and out of the majors since his arrival in Minnesota in 2021. This year, he is 5-4 with a 5.13 ERA, offering some cause for concern. His opponent will be the young Joey Estes, whose rapid ascent through the minor leagues has earned him a spot in Oakland’s starting rotation.
