This looks like another season where the Astros might get off to a slow start but end up fighting for the division title. They've already reached 30 wins, climbed out of last place in the AL West, and are aiming to sweep their division rivals, the Athletics, in Houston.
In the second game of the series, the Astros put on a hitting feast, a tremendous offensive explosion. After hitting a key home run in Game 1, Isaac Paredes' home run streak ended at three games, but he contributed in Game 2, going 2-for-3. Wade had a game where he went 3-for-5 with a home run and an RBI double, and Al hit his fifth home run of the season. However, all eyes remain on Cuban Yordan Álvarez, who hit a monstrous grand slam, leading the AL in home runs with 22. In the end, the Astros won that game by a landslide 13-2.
The Athletics are on the opposite trend to the Astros; they had a good start but have fizzled out in the second half of May and the beginning of June. They only managed six hits on Saturday; weeks ago, they were swept in Sacramento by other divisional rivals, the Mariners.

The series could continue to be a home run affair on Sunday, especially since Mike Burrows will be the Astros' final pitcher of the series. Burrows has been unreliable and has already given up 15 home runs in 68.1 innings this season. Among qualified pitchers, he has the highest ERA at 5.66 after 12 starts.
But at least he's almost certain to have some support from an Astros offense that has rediscovered its home run form. Álvarez is currently one of the best hitters in MLB; his home runs have been towering, especially those he hit with fastballs, but at the same time, his high .316 batting average is surprising.
