The Astros and Athletics begin a new series against each other in Houston. On Wednesday, the Astros won by a single run against the D-backs, and the Athletics lost by the same margin at Globe Life Field against the Rangers.

Wednesday's loss was one of those painful and even undeserved losses for the Athletics, as they had three more hits than the Rangers, who only managed four, one of them a home run by Seager and the other a somewhat fortuitous hit by Heim to give Texas the victory. In that game, Jacob Wilson went 0-for-4. Wilson is competing with teammate Nick Hurts, who hit 19 home runs in 64 games, for the Rookie of the Year award.

The Astros don't have as many rookies, but rather players with long careers in the MLB. One of them is Josh Hader, who got the last three outs, striking out two, earning his 27th save, to seal the Astros' 60th win of the season.
