The Athletics will try to end a three-game skid when they play the Detroit Tigers in Game 2 of a three-game series today. Fans can follow the action once the game gets underway at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI, at 6:40 p.m. EST.
It will not be easy, of course, against a Tigers team that beat them yesterday 11-4 and owns the best record in Major League Baseball (50-30). The A’s took an early 4-2 lead over the Tigers in Tuesday’s contest, but the Detroit offense exploded for five runs in the third inning and never looked back. For Game 2, the Athletics are scheduled to start Jacob Lopez. He’s got a 1-4 record in ten appearances (six starts), with a 4.25 ERA and 1.44 WHIP. However, he has really struggled away from home, appearing in five games (three starts) and going 1-2 with a 6.92 ERA and a .333 OBA. But he has only given up one run in his last three starts. Detroit is set to start Jack Flaherty. Flaherty is 5-8 in 15 starts with a 4.83 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. He gave up 15 earned runs in his last two starts (seven combined innings).
