The Los Angeles Dodgers (7-3 SU, 4-6 ATS) try to get back on track when they face the Chicago Cubs (5-2 SU, 5-2 ATS) in the second game of the teams’ three-game series. The Dodgers’ offense came through yet again for the 10th time this season, but the pitching looked far more suspect than it did during the first week of the season.
They’ll now ask free agent signing Yoshinobu Yamamoto to try again after a much improved second start to the season. Yamamoto looked the part of a Japanese pitching star last timer out against St. Louis, as he held the Cardinals to two hits in five innings of work. The Cubs counter with Jordan Wicks, who got let down by bad defensive play the last time he took the hill but survived anyway, giving up three unearned runs in the win.

And that’s why these teams are essentially immune to the harsh conditions: they put the ball in play well enough that the wind actually makes their jobs easier.
Yamamoto looked better in his second start but still doesn’t inspire confidence at this point. Wicks didn’t exactly handle his first start well either, which suggests that this might be a case of the hitters being out in front of these pitchers. These offenses have performed at a very high level this season, as both rank in the top six in both runs scored and OPS. Because of that, our prediction is Over 8 Runs.
