The Chicago Cubs (32-28, 18-11 Home) will host the Athletics in a three-game series starting with Game One tonight at 8:05 p.m. EST at Wrigley Field in the Windy City. Fans can follow the action on MLB.TV.
Chicago comes home after going 3-4 during its most recent road trip, going 2-2 against the Pirates but then dropping two of three to the Cardinals. A road trip may be just what the A’s need after dropping five of six games during their last home stint.
For the Cubs, Jameson Taillon will get the start on the mound. He has 2-4 in 11 starts with a 5.37 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. At home, he has gone 1-1 in five starts with a 4.33 ERA and a .250 OBA. Seven of the 19 home runs he has allowed occurred at Wrigley Field.
As for the A’s, they appear to be giving Gage Jump another shot in the rotation. In his first start, he lasted five innings before getting pulled against Seattle. He allowed nine hits and four earned runs, striking out five and walking zero. After one start, he has a 7.20 ERA and a WHIP of 2.0.

This game is screaming for people to bet on the OVER. Neither pitcher has done particularly well. Both have somewhat high ERAs and are not difficult to hit. Over the last week, both lineups have looked good at the plate. Chicago has hit .275 over the last week with just under six runs per game, and the A’s have hit .267 with just over four runs per game. I don’t expect them to blow the metaphorical roof off Wrigley, but they’ll combine for 8+ runs.
