The No. 22 Notre Dame Fighting Irish will try to build off last week’s win over Purdue when they head to Arkansas to take on the Razorbacks at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, AR. Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, at 12 p.m. EST.
It has been a rough start to the season for the Fighting Irish, starting with a hard loss to Miami, 27-24. Following that, they faced another top 25 team, the Texas A&M Aggies, and lost a back-and-forth battle 41-40. They finally got on the right side of the scoreboard last week with a win against the Boilermakers, 56-30. Arkansas took a different approach to the start of the season, facing a pair of soft opponents to begin the year: Alabama A&M (52-7) and Arkansas State (56-14). But then they faced some tougher competition the last two weeks in No. 17 Ole Miss and Memphis. Both games were hard-fought and competitive, but the Razorbacks lost by six to Ole Miss (41-35) and by one to Memphis (32-31).
Expectations were pretty high for Notre Dame coming off a run to the national championship game last season. However, so far, while the offense has been productive, they have struggled to slow down opponents on defense.

Both teams have some real flaws. The only difference right now between the two is that Notre Dame appears to have dealt with many of its issues after stomping on Purdue. But I have one problem with that assertion—they were supposed to stomp all over Purdue, so it doesn’t really mean much that they did. If you got to bet the opening spread of +12.5 points for Purdue, congratulations. Notre Dame will not win this game by 13+ points. But at the current spread of 4.5 points, I don’t see the value in betting on either team because I expect this to be a competitive game. That is why I’m going to roll the dice and take the Arkansas moneyline. If they can avoid the turnovers, they can steal a win here.
