Gausman’s big problem this year has been his ability to pitch at home. When he’s gone away from the Rogers Centre, he’s looked like his old self with a 2.22 ERA. At home, his ERA is an ugly 6.43, and he’s gone 1-4 on the season. Cole has been out for much of the year, and his most recent start wasn’t very good. Against the Mets, he gave up six runs on four home runs in four innings.
Both teams are hitting the ball well, and the pitching has left a lot to be desired. Things don’t get better for Toronto when the Jays get into their bullpen; only Colorado and the Angels have a worse ERA than the Blue Jay bullpen. With neither side preventing runs well and the big names driving down the total, this looks like a game where offense wins. Our prediction for New York vs. Toronto is Over 8.5.
